Employer's liability for third party harassment to be reintroduced

A private member’s bill introduced to parliament on the 15 June 2022 has received government support.

The Worker’s Protection Bill introduces a new duty on employers to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace.

It also reinstates employer liability for third party harassment, for example by a customer or client, with employees being able to bring such a claim after a single incident.

It is not expected to become law before 2024.
