The Government has announced a temporary change to the time an employee can be off sick before they have to provide their employer with a fitnote, as evidence of their sickness.
Previously this was seven days but has been extended to 28 days. It applies to periods of sickness starting on or before the 26 January 2022 (although this may be extended).
The aim is to give GPs more time to deal with the booster programme.
